Gangs of Wasseypur 2

Cast: Nawazuddin Sidiqqui, Huma Quershi, Vineet Singh, Rajkumar Yadav, Zeishan Qadri, Aditya Kumar
Director: Anurag Kashyap

Sardar Khan failed his revenge dying dramatically and we were told the saga is to be continued. A rassi bomb was already installed beneath your seat while watching the previous part of the film. And you will find it in the same place there as this concluding part begins.

"Baap ka, dada ka, sabka badla lega re tera Faizal," promises Faizal Khan (Nawaz) to his mother (Richa Chaddha). Nawaz, already being tagged as the Michael Corleone of this Indian Godfather series, believes in quick action and in style. Anti - Keh Ke Lunga. Other characters from the last part (Asgar, Nasir Chacha) are almost sidelined to introduce us with some new ones. Of which one is Perpendicular (Faizal's younger brother, Aditya Kumar) who steals every scene he appears in with his stammering tongue. A character so cult that you'll be reminded of him every time you'll see a razor-blade! Another mathematically named character Tangent is left with not much significance but shares an interesting story of the razor-blade techniques. Syed Zeeshan Qadri, the writer of the film, hails from the lands of Wasseypur, Jharkhand and hence finds it no difficult job in playing the character of Definite (Sardar's son from Durga) so perfectly with his accent. Other characters like Shamshad Alam (Raj Kumar Yadav), Ikhlakh emerge and sink as their related subplots gets executed.

The kind of story-telling remains same as that of the earlier part. Only the time and space has advanced so much that Wasseypur is almost a no order and law land where lives are cheap enough to get killed by any gangster. If Sardar Khan's era was rustic vintage, Faizal raps it stylishly to serve you alcoholic venom.

Well knitted sequences with thrill, drama and humor blended so brilliantly in each scene that makes it one of the best auteurist gangster films ever made! The comedy has a peculiar recursiveness of errors, given the unwise characters: the sequence when Definite barges into Shamshad's home and finds his pistol faulty, or the hilariously directed one when Definite and his mates are on phone conversation spying Sultan in a market, planning to kill him. Many difficult-to-grasp, not-much-fleshed out subplots may just leave you to watch who kills who. But you are not let down with the mess as it is done neatly.

Unlike other Kashyap movies where you are made to think about the emotions that drive the characters and expect an extreme climax, this one remains on a predictable note. You may ask why Piyush Mishra as Nasir Ahmed has been in charge of the voice over narration throughout, and ponder a thought if any character is left out. The playful background scores in meaty proportions with the scenes treats you deliciously. Special mention to Yashpal Sharma for keeping the ball rolling with his 3 brand new crackling performances this time! Tigmanshu Dhulia as Ramadhir Singh is again as entertaining as ever. His matured sense of humor splits you in laughter even with a dialogue as simple as "Tumse se nahi ho sakta" to his son J P Singh. But the star of the show is Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing the most stylish gangster ever on screen: dark, intrepid yet emotional.

Gangs of Wasseypur 2 puts many laris-fuljharis on the way of the rassi bomb that finally explodes bombastically in between your legs during the climax bloodshed with the ear-deafening KKL in background. And as you walk out of the theater you'll find yourself wearing the style and attitude of the characters.

Watch this as many times as you can and you'll be stunned with the minute details each time. For supreme entertainment, I recommend you watching both the parts of this epic saga back to back and experience the cult in making!
